Jhourney Retreat Highlights
Meditation Practice
- We'll engage in 6-10 hours of meditation daily, including walking meditation.
- Group meditation sessions will occur two to three times per day, with instruction provided before, after, or during the sit.
Silence and Reflection
- Starting midway through the first full day, we'll practice silence outside of scheduled group times.
- This silence helps deepen your practice and fosters self-reflection.
Digital Detox
- We encourage you to turn in your phone and related devices upon arrival. They'll be stored in an easily accessible location.
- If you choose to keep your device, please plan to disconnect from all notifications and outside communication for the week.
- This detox allows for deeper focus on your practice and present experience.
Meals and Nutrition
- Two to three vegetarian meals will be served daily.
- Please let us know in advance if you require a vegan meal-plan.
- Meals are designed to support your meditation practice and overall well-being.
Physical Activity
- Optional daily group workouts (e.g., HIIT, yoga) will be offered to complement your meditation practice.
- Please bring appropriate workout clothes if you wish to participate.
- A pool is available onsite. Bring swimwear if you'd like to use it.
Equipment to Bring
- A laptop or tablet for writing and submitting reflections. These devices should only be used for this purpose and kept in the meditation hall.
- Headphones compatible with an aux jack or Bluetooth. We may provide MP3 players for guided meditations.
- A physical journal for personal reflections (optional).
- We’ll provide all needed instruction to reference as we go. We suggest not bringing outside jhana materials. In our experience, students who reference a variety of materials often take longer to experience the jhanas due to each material teaching slightly different methods.
Focus on Practice
- This retreat is designed as an intensive period of practice, similar to a sports camp. The primary focus is on direct experience, such as practicing football on the field, rather than study, such as reading about football plays.
